“Life turns on a dime. Sometimes towards us, but more often it spins away, flirting and flashing as it goes: so ling, honey, it was good while it lasted, wasn’t it?” – Stephen King, 11/22/63
Life turns on a dime, as the old saying goes. But what does it mean? Well, many are aware that a dime is one of the smallest coins in American currency. A dime is worth 10 cents to most of us, and while that may not seem like much, when added together dimes become dollars. At this moment in time, and with all of the new energies arriving on Earth, I believe that “life turns on a dime, may very well be something we, ourselves might ponder at this moment.
The new energies are asking each of us to review our lives and dismiss what is no longer serving us. While we may have flashes of insight as to what it is that we really want in life, big changes can be frightening.
I would remind you here that the greatest of treasures, places like The Grand Canyon, the Pyramids, various monuments and World Wonders, did not develop overnight. As humans, I believe we could take a lesson in seeing this characteristic within our own soul.
When we attempt major life changes, often times we bite off more than we can chew at once. It takes fortitude, stamina, faith and determination to see the result we desire, yet have the patience with ourselves to achieve our goal.
Large steps are not always necessary for change to occur. I believe that “life turns on a dime” means that life is a series of small steps that lead us on a journey called life. Will it all be perfect? Will it always go as planned? The answer to that, and one our society is not always interested in hearing is NO.
Small steps towards our goal, offers us much more reward than the larger ones do. By taking small steps, we see the newness of each event and are, most often, afforded time to ponder whether or not this event is something we wish to embrace or something we might wish to let go of. Smaller steps provide an avenue whereby we realize we have choices without the need for sinking into an abyss that only waste our precious energy and time.
The energies of these past few weeks may seem as though they are asking you to jump off a huge cliff, welcoming a different side of yourself along the way. And yes, the energies of these past weeks feel like extended Mercury retrograde, one filled with obstacles, newness, and foreign insights you might not yet understand.
If ever there was a time to reflect, if ever there was a time to move forward, if ever there was a time to begin to work towards finding the authentic you – the time is now.
A Chef’s meal is a grand adventure prepared through careful evaluation, honesty, sincerity and love for what he or she is providing. Be gentle with yourselves as you travel forward. Even if you do not have the complete answer at this moment, remember, “life turns on a dime.”
